Title

Why did John Steinbeck title his book Of Mice and Men? Think about Robert Burns' poem. Can you think of any possible meanings?

I think Steinbeck chose this Name for the book because no matter if you are small like a mouse or a man what ever you try to do in life something goes wrong.

I think John Steinbeck titled his book Of Mice and Men because of the poem by Robert Burns' poem. I think that it means that even if you are really tiny or really big something will end up going wrong in your life. Nothing is perfect, but after the rain comes the sunshine even if it is for just a little while.

i agree wtih stephen. if you are a mouse, something always goes wrong, you could jump into a puddle and drown, or you could be stepped on and die. if you are a person, your dream could go wrong, just like lennie and george's dream. no matter how small or how big you are, there is always a chance for something to go completely wrong.

I agree with Stephen because it doesn't matter how big you are or how small you are people are all the same. No matter what happens in life something always goes wrong.

i think it means that lenny likes mice and then he kills them all. he gets a puppy and he kills that. then he kills curleus wife. it seems that he kills from small to big. lenny is a big dood

I think the title is "Of Mice and Men" because it tells you about Lennie and his mouse that he had towards the begining of the story. It could also represent George and Lennie being the mice (the newcomers) and the other people on the farm the men.

I think that this title is to repersent the mouse that Lennie killed. Lennie kills the mouse, dog, then a human. This is foreshadowing. This is foreshadowing because he kills small things and then gets bigger. Then he adventually he kiled a person. I think that even poeple my size are likely to have something to go wrong. Or poeple are bigger than me they will have something go wrong. Or people smaller than me are likely to have something bad happen. I think that anyone can have something go wrong and that's what I think the title is about.

I think Steinback chose this title for the book because all animals face a conflict it does not really matter if you are tiny as a mouse or humangeous as a human, you will face a problem in your life and deal with the consequences. In other words, problems arise in any stage of life.

I agree with stephen because any thing can happen to anyone at any time and anyones plans can go wrong and leave you with nothing but promised joy. This gos for George and Lennie because their dreams died when Lennie died.

I agree with Lee because Steinbeck compares the mice to be small,Lennie is big which is ironic because his name is Lennie Small.

I agree with Victoria. I think Steinbeck chose the title Of Mice and Men because nothing is perfect and dreams dont always come true, or have happy endings no matter how much you strive for them. Whether its your place in society, gender, size, or race something is always going to go wrong because there is no such thing as a perfect life or the american dream.
