The Land

Think about how Steinbeck depicts the land. How is it treated? What does the land do for people? What do you think that Steinbeck is saying about the attitude of Americans towards the land?

I agree with Melissa. He talks about the land in a positive way. Everyone needs the land to live. He, also, says that we should treat it well. By the end of the movie we watrched on his life he said he was disappointed in us because we stopped caring for it and we are treating it like dirt.

I agree with Melissa, Steinbeck talks about the land in a positive way. The land is important to people because you live off the land. People should treat it well and care for it because it produces a great deal of things for our society.

I agree with marissa and melissa because Steinback really explains how the land is but also since he was born and raised on a ranch it really gives off detail.

the land that Steinback is referring to is the dream land for ordinary people like us that we want to obtain in our thoughts. People stay a sleep sometimes that way their dreams do not die out. The land was something for Lennie & George to look forward to as relief, it was something that could have cheered them up more than ever.

I believe that stienbeck uses the land to discribe the mood of the story because it's happy at the beggining and dark at the end. Also the land provide the land with food, work, and hope which all helps Americans and makes them respect the land.

I think that steinbeck was trying to get the people to see that without land some poeple or most of the people would not be able to live. The rich wouldn't benifit from the slaves doing all their work and the would have to do it on their own. I also think that because the land gave to people that did not have a life a chance to earn money and get a place to live.

Steinbeck is saying to use the land wiseley and dont mistreat it because it provides you with the essentials you need to live. Such as crops, a place to raise animals, to put a house on top of and farm work for rachers.
