Once again, welcome to our class blog! The blog is a place for you to discuss your thoughts about our class reading and activities. We will visit the computer lab, as a class on a regular basis. There will be various assignments and questions posted here that you must complete and discuss.
You are also welcome to visit our blog outside of class, independently and I encourage you to do so. This is a place where you can ask your classmates questions about the reading or other things related to our class.
I remind you, however, that your activity on this site will be closely monitored and you are responsible for your comments. Your comments should be acceptable to everyone. That includes your parents, grandparents, younger siblings, teachers, Principal, etc. Your postings should not inlcude any material that any of these people might find offensive. If you need to think twice about saying something, it is probably best to leave it out.

Mockingbirds
The title of Lee's book is alluded to when Atticus gives his children air rifles and tells them that they can shoot all the blue jays they want, but "it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." In class, we discussed the idea that Tom Robinson is a kind of "mockingbird" because he is convicted even though he is innocent. What other characters in the book might you say are"mockingbirds"?

another character that could also be considered as a mockingbird is tim johnson.tim johnson didnt do anything to harm anybody and he got killed.
Tim Johnson...Because he didnt do nothing wrong All that happend was that he got rabies.
i think tim johnson is not a mockinbird bc he had fricken rabies and could have hurt somebody so im glad he got shott! and i think the person who should be considered a mocking bird id i have no idea!!! =p
i dont think tim robinson was a mockingbird because the dog had rabies, he had to be shot so he didnt harm anyone else.
anouther "mockingbird" in this book would be tom robinson. i think tyhis because he didnt do anything to hurt ne one and mockingbirds dont hurt ne 1 so there kinda the same

I would say Atticus is a mockingbird because people critcize him for defending a black man, when he really isn't doing anything wrong. Scout might also be a mockingbird because she helps Tom Robinson out without even knowing.
i agree with brett but i think tim johnson was a mochingbird because he was innocent and was shot because he had rabies.
